Grandma Jo's love life

Just thought I would keep you all updated on my (widowed since 1988) grandmother's love life, because she has one. Have I mentioned that she e-mails me regularly and that she joined an internet dating service a while back? But that is not where she met this boyfriend--he is a family friend (of 50 years!). They got reacquainted at his wife's funeral and are taking a ballroom dancing class. My sister writes in her latest e-mail:

"gram is 'happy as a clam in deep wet sand' (shall we say?) with her boyfriend and dancing partner named jim. she has a hot date for new years eve and a sexy dress to wear, too. she never misses a chance to talk about her love life...'so, adam*, do you have a girlfriend?' (no pause) 'ask your old gram if she has a boyfriend!'"

From the horse's mouth, in a Christmas card: "In this old body of mine beats the heart of a teen-ager--and I do believe I am starting to dress like one! Ha ha--anyway this attention is so so sweet--most fun I've had in 20 years--WOW!! Approach w/caution, I say everyday! Ha ha."

I hope I am a lot like my grandmother when I am 75. Well, not a widow.

*My (cute, 6'5", redheaded) 19-year-old cousin

Hi Meckhead! Jasmin's Opa sends his greetings (in Pfaelzisch, of course :-). Can you believe he remembered us from before? As far as not being in touch lately, I do believe that the fault lies sqarely on my shoulders for this one (sheepish grin). I got this marvelous e-mail from you that I wanted to answer all wittily and charmingly, and I never felt quite witty enough... I will answer anyway, and re-grease our social chassis. :-) MERRY CHRISTMAS! (ein bisschen nachtraeglich)

Your gram sounds like a hoot! It is reassuring to know that flirting and "love" can still be fun, even at an older age. :) Thanks for sharing that! Amy
