Ba-rack my world

Well, maybe just one more teensy little link before I go.
This is a Newsweek article about Barack Obama, the new Democratic senator from Illinois. You probably all know who he is already, but hey, I have to work a little harder to stay abreast of American politics. :-) The article is really good, in my opinion. I think I already mentioned this, but I enjoyed reading Obama's memoir "Dreams from my Father." Anyway, I am interested in hearing what y'all think of this guy (maybe especially those of you living in Illinois).

Only vaguely related, but gee is it a funny story -

A couple of days after the election results were in Jay Leno had his on-staff Dubya impersonator out for an "interview with the President."

"Mr. President!" said Jay. "Thanks for joining us. You must be very excited about the election results."

"I'll tell you, Jay," said the impersonator guy (who was, obviously, for the purposes of the skit supposed to be Dubya himself), "it's been a heck of a week."

"Certainly. Congratulations on your re-election."

"Thank you, Jay, but I'll tell you what I'm even more excited about - we've found Osama Bin Laden!"

"Really? Well, that's amazing, that's wonderful - how did you do it?"

"Jay, I'll tell you, it was easier than I ever thought it'd be. Turns out the people of Illinois actually elected him to the Senate!"

"....uh... no, Mr. President, that was Barack Obama, not Osama Bin Laden."

"...Really?"

"Really."

"Okay, Jay, you'll have to excuse me - I've got to call the Pentagon right away."

[editorial note - quotes in this recreation aren't intended to serve their usual function of indicating that the dialogue contained within is exactly what was originally said. I'm sure it was much funnier as originally performed.]

Oh, "What, You too?" you should have been a headline-writer, as well. I just got "Dreams From My Father" for Christmas ... yay!

WOW! Jess- I just had a rare moment to sit and indulge myself by catching up with your blogging. (That's a compliment when someone chooses to read your stuff during their luxurious, relaxation time!) THANK YOU for taking my questions seriously! I have to admit that I expected you to! I respect your advice and will look into all of it. Sending lots of holiday love....Amy

Thanks for asking... it was great in an overwhelming and confusing way, and I will write about it as soon as I find the words. As far as the headline goes, I am unfortunately not as creative as you think. I stole it from the author of the article. :-)
