My own two feet

I walked to the bank and the post office today!

One of the things that has been unsettling me the past week or two is how much you have to drive here. You can't even count on there being sidewalks connecting point A to point B! Since my last four years were spent with perambulation as my major and, for weeks at a time, ONLY form of transportation, this is an enormous difference for me and it is turning out to mean more to me than I realized it would. So the fact that I found a little strip mall that I can walk to is feeling like a huge blessing, a way to keep my feet on the ground when everything old is new again.

There are so many things that have changed since I was living here last, and so many things that feel like they have changed when actually they have remained fairly constant and I have been Ms. Gumby-person. And I don't really want to recreate the last two years in this new (and better) living situation, but on the other hand it's hard to live in a complete disconnect too. So I'll walk to the bank, and that will make me feel better. Yay.

To which post office did you walk? You know, when you walk over to the bank at that little strip mall, you could also visit one of the locations of the best coffeehouse in town. M'mmm... it's soooooooo gooooooooooood. Downtown IC (with its' own location of that same coffeehouse) really wouldn't be all that long a walk from your place, either.
