Know what I don't love? Passive-aggressive behavior. People who control by manipulation and subterfuge. Blatant and hurtful insubordination. Evil, calculating smiles. My house was full of these things as I grew up, my parents lashing out at each other unexpectedly and in ways calculated to hurt, and I don't ever want to invite that stuff into my life again.
I really don't love indirect hostility. And thankfully, this country is often blessedly free of it. But I encountered a situation today that was chock-full of it, and I was quite pleased to have the chance to go carry a few boxes upstairs in the new people's new apartment afterwards. Hooray for hard physical labor for getting out the frustrations.
One of the things my new boss told me in the kick-ass job intereview week was "I have a very low tolerance for passive-aggressive behavior." Me too, buddy. Me too. We'll get along fine.

I think sometimes the "Midwestern nice" that you spoke of in a previous entry relates to this post. We cloak things in nice-ity instead of honesty and it turns into passive-aggressive behavior and it's annoying.
I am counting down your days for you too--okay, for me and for you. In 22 days, you'll be closer to me. And in 22 days, you'll be happier again and that will be a very good thing!
Here, here! I also hate it when little children say things like 'that cookie looks really good, I wish I had a cookie like that'. Just ask for the bloomin cookie!
Yep I am a horrible, intollerant person!
