Erlebnisnacht, part 3

...and then the Remaining Miss M and I went to the local zoo (which, I just heard, now has baby meerkats - must see those before I leave) to catch the snake show with petting zoo afterwards. I was fully expecting "Miss Sabine" to be a matronly spinster-type zookeeper who would lecture us goodnaturedly on why we shouldn't be afraid of snakes and tarantulas because see! they're not slimy at all! Just nice and warm! And did you know they (snakes, not tarantulas) can unhinge their jaws to eat a particularly large tasty morsel? Fun for the whole family (which incidentally, was exactly how it was advertised, and that was the composition of the audience, too).

But instead, Miss Sabine wore a loincloth and not much else and didn't say anything, but just thrust her hips around suggestively while letting a tarantula crawl over her hand (ooh!)...and holding a snake above her head (aah!) and then draping it over the shoulders of a volunteer from the audience, who kept twisting his head around so as to have a better view of her loincloth and tassles (which, to be fair, were adorning a very buff body - although we definitely think "the girls" were a little too bouyant).
Sabine's equally studly husband was the emcee of the "family spectacle", and he would pause reflectively every now and again as if to say "Isn't my wife a serious hottie?" before resuming his between-acts commentary. It was, Miss M and I agreed afterwards, a *very* German experience.

(Thanks to Miss M for the stunning photography.)
