Liberte, egalite, fraternite

Happy Bastille Day, all. On this day in 1789, Parisians stormed the Bastille and facilitated the escape of 7 political prisoners, effectively thumbing their noses at Louis XVI, on whose royal whim the citizens had been incarcerated. Seven prisoners - yet look at what it catalyzed. Take that, absolutist monarchy!

Why is it that dates for things like the French Revolution stick in my brain, but I consistently forget my best friends' birthdays? I am such a putz.

P.S. I'm going home! Possibly not too much news from me this coming week, although you never know. It should be clear to all of you by now that I am going to be enjoying every single freaking minute of the weekend, and not allowing myself to panic until Monday morning at the earliest. :-)

You are ridiculously good with historical trivia. There may just be no room left in there for birthdays. :) See you soon! Call me. Amy

Weird to see your last post be six days old. You've spoiled us.

I hope the trip home was everything you hoped it would be. Certainly 'twas grand to see you, even if only for Friday evening (I just missed Saturday lunch by about 20 minutes, I'm told).
