So the newest kick I'm on (the last one was analyzing everyone's personalities; remember?) is "getting my life streamlined and organized and simplified." But first, just a quick throwback to the personality analysis: I'm just kind of like this. I get a new crop of ideas, and they kind of take over my thoughts for a while... I like new ideas! I am not as great at finishing things, but that comes with the (ENFP) territory. If I have to finish something, I can, it's just that the last few hours or minutes or weeks are not nearly as fun as the first. OK, end of tangent.
Onto the organization. It started with the passport hunt, which unearthed piles upon piles of papers and just things that have accumulated during my last three years in Germany. Most of them needed badly to be thrown out, and the rest needed badly to be filed or piled elsewhere. So I did (Ahem... mostly. I didn't quite finish).
The iron and ironing board? They belong also to my organization kick, as do the newly-acquired Yahoo! folders and the budget that I have obsessively made and revamped and rethought and remade. I have this actual income now, you know - my first time ever living at or above the poverty line - and I want to use it responsibly. Ooh! That's another dimension of this "let's get organized" fun: this catapulting toward adulthood that I seem to be doing. Well, OK, now's the time, I guess.
So, the budget. I have figured out how to make pre-tax contributions to my retirement account; that'll take care of some of the cash flow. (Retirement: Check.) I don't know what I'll be doing when I go back to the US, so I need to pay off this student loan before then, just in case I choose a very-low-paying option, as I am wont to do. (Student loan: Check.) I also figure I will probably need a car next year, so there's another big chunk of moolah. (Car: Check.) And woo-hoo! Now I can finally start making decent contributions to these amazing organizations that before have basically only received my time. Now they'll get some of my cash too. :-) (Tithing: Check.)
And I'm joining a health club. My running partner is skipping town, and the weather is getting nasty muggy, so I am going to need a fallback if this marathon thing is really going to happen. Plus, I'll just need something to do.
Gee, wasn't that interesting for you all? Sheesh. I should get an editor.
