If you say Toad enough times in a row it becomes completely meaningless

I was listening to this song by Toad the Wet Sprocket and it occurred to me that I have always sorta of wondered what that name is all about.

You all probably know this already. It is probably one of those vague Pop Culture Tidbits that resides within the collective unconscious of all cool and worthy North Americans, a tidbit that I have missed out on by being a.) dorky; b.) always one step behind when it comes to fashion and/or pop culture; and c.) 5,000 miles away.

So my big question is what is "Toad", anyway?

Is it a command? Toad the wet sprocket!
Is it a noun? Toad, the wet sprocket.
Is it an interjection? Toad! The wet sprocket!
Is it an adverb? Specifically, "toward", pronounced with an Australian accent and a strong lisp? Toad the wait thprohket.

Hmmm. I've not managed to convince myself one way or the other.

*solicits opinions*

Edit: So, after about a three-second Google search, I have rendered my own question fully nugatory (m-w word of the day!). Yes indeed, it's a tidbit from the pop culture treasury to which I am not privy. Although given the source, I would want to become privy, because I bet it's funny as heck. Right-e-o. My question still stands, for all of you equally-clueless folks.

I don't remember TTWS being that famous so I'd say you aren't as uncool as you think you are. In fact, most people probably don't even remember them lol
