I asked the hairstylist to give me a few red and blond highlights. She nodded, a certain glint in her eye.
Five minutes later, I was chained to the chair while not one but two stylists attacked me with orange and blue goop, paintbrushes, waxed paper and alligator clips. They did stuff all over my head, alternating the blue and the orange and holding whispered consultations over the top of me. I had sort of vaguely been expecting a bit of tinfoil and ten minutes' worth of spreading the goop, but they went to town for over an hour, with serious flair. At one point I had little wrapped waxed-paper-and-goop packages all over my entire head and I was just missing the angel on top, a Yule log and some roasting chestnuts.
The orangeness and the blueness shocked me for a while, but I trusted their better judgment. Thankfully, when it was all over, the orange turned to a subtle coppery red and the blue became a nice buttery blond.
I can't get a single picture to show you the colors, though, and that is by far the coolest thing about this haircut. My head looks like a pile of autumn leaves, warm and striated and flowy... here's my contemplative look:
And I'm torn on this next one. Shall I call it "bedhead" or "seduction"? You decide:
Heh, what do you know. My nose isn't dead center. Weird that I never noticed that before.

dude. i love it. you win at life. i want some pretty hair now!! *pets*
which salon did you visit?
Very pretty with your eye-color.
Wow, your hair looks great! More pictures! =)
And I second Heather's question.
Thanks, girls. It's almost as good as squealing about it in person. :-)
I went to a salon conveniently located right across the street from me (the Leucorea). Shipman's, it's called.
Joannie.. I *totally* look like Abby in this picture. Especially the bottom half of my face. I think her eyes must be different.
Definitely "seduction." Love the 'do.
Oooooh! I love it! I can't wait to see it in person! Now you need to get one of those special "color-preserving" shampoos so that it is still fresh when we see you. :) Very cute cut, too! I agree- you do strongly resemble Abby in the first photo! Amy
just dropping in... Nice--maybe if I still had hair, I'd let 'em try their gloop on me and see what comes out. on second thought...
Jessica, your hair looks beautiful. And your eyes do look a lot bigger without your glasses. So now I bet you'll be getting even more eye contact!
Amy, thanks for the suggestion. I needed a new bottle of shampoo anyway, so I got one specifically for color preservation. Fancy!
Hi sage... I suppose they make lots of gloop that's designed to make a bald head glossy or matte or whichever sort of finish you prefer... Maybe you could try some of that!
Rachel, thanks. :-) All this thought about eye contact makes me want to go out and stare everyone directly in the eye and see what happens. (I guess I wouldn't advise *you* to try that, though. :-)
