I am home now and I realize I have much to be thankful for, most recently a fairly uneventful trip back (somehow I managed to scrape my eye on my suitcase handle on the train and bleed my way to the airport in Berlin, but that has since stopped and I don't even have a black eye to show for it - grr) and the fact that I am home! Did I mention I was coming home? :-)
You people have big stuff here: wide roads, enormous fricking barges that you call cars, gigantor refrigerators filled to the brim with stuff, huge portions in restaurants, big people, big pants, etc. It may take me a few days to adjust. Please excuse me if you see me during my trip and I keep comparing things to Germany (favorably or unfavorably) - it's sort of a compulsion the first few days back - the only thing that ameliorates the pain of reverse culture shock. Please don't think it means I don't love you for who you are. :-)
OK, the jetlag got me up early, but the better to prepare for the bring-your-own-chair Thanksgiving festivities at my dad's, with 50 of our closest relatives, step-relatives, half-relatives and relatives-in-law. I am excited for the yearly Trivial Pursuit Challenge wherein my cousin Nick and I take on the world and triumph! *cackles evilly* I suppose I should have gotten a bit better in Geography since the last time I celebrated Thanksgiving at home four years ago...
Guess what? I'm home!
I hope you are all having fun in your respective homes, and if you can't make it home for turkey and trimmings, have a turkey sandwich and remember that lots of people love you.

Happy Thanksgiving, Friend! I'm glad you're able to spend this holiday at home, with your family and tons of people who love you.
I'm thankful that we became friends just over a year ago :)
