For me, one of life's simple pleasures is seeing something done really, really well. A house painter who goes back with a tiny brush to get the corners. A daddy who sweeps up his tripping toddler before she hits the floor, tickles her and turns her wail into a laugh. A tidy row of sums whose digits are content to add up to the number written at the bottom, no complaints. This blog is a perfect example. It contains some of the most breathtaking photographs I have ever seen. This photographer does what he does with love and skill. And the results are incredible. (Check out the shots of the lunar eclipse from last week, about halfway down. My jaw dropped.) He does...something...to these scenes: it seems like all of the beauty within the people, birds, landscapes, costumes, just rushes to the surface to be photographed. Kinda makes me think that beauty is not only about seeing what's there, but about coaxing it out from the inside.
