Today, I realized I was holding out for a running partner. This is ridiculous, but not without precedent. Normally it just so happens that my roommates are marathons runners or just really into jogging for fun, and they invite me to come with. Embarrassingly, it took me three months to get it: if I want to go running, I need to either get proactive about finding a partner or resign myself to going alone. The weather was perfect today--crispy but not freezing, so I put in my new insoles (ahhhh... new insoles; they really do put a spring in your step) and took off for the bridge that has always intrigued me but which I haven't really seen up close.
I feel great! And muscles that have lately only seen the business end of my office chair are now exclaiming: I'm alive again! I'm sure that will feel nice tomorrow. :-)
Oh! A parade just went by, with a drum corps dressed up in snazzy yellow and black uniforms and about 200 kids (and their parents) carrying paper lanterns with candles inside... I wonder if they are celebrating Advent?

Thanks, hon. Your words are wise (as always). I think it is so wonderful that your love for each other gets you through the dry spots, and that Adam has such creatively devious ways of expressing it. :-). Yeah... I learn from every relationship, perhaps especially from the "failed" ones. This time I learned that although I am willing to make lots of compromises for a relationship (especially one that is greater than the sum of its parts), there are some things that I am not willing to give up. And that is really important to learn. (And it is equally important to hear that affirmation from one's friends, so thank you!)
er... I guess you have heard it by now - they are celebrating St. Martin's day.
But I commented on this entry for a different reason - I was loking for an entry on the outskirts of your blog to quietly post my email adress because there i something I wanted to ask you but didn't want to post publically:

Presuming that you turned the "email me if someone has commented on my blog" on...
