I want to introduce you all to... the cutest baby in the world (and her parents are not bad-looking either)! This is my gorgeous niece, Hailey Louise. She is a little more than two months old, and now that my sister has to go back to school (well, she is in her last year of medical school, doing rotations), my brother-in-law Matt is taking time off from being an IT specialist to be a full-time daddy. (Awww...)
Imagine: Hailey has been in the world for nine weeks already, and she has not even met her Auntie Jessie yet. This is a travesty, but a soon-to-be-remedied one, as I am flying home on January 28th for two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! Minnesota (and Iowa) never sounded so good. I will happily traipse through hip-high snowdrifts and freeze off the tip of my nose to hold this sweet little baby. In general, I am hearing the call of the Midwest, and it probably has a lot to do with a certain nine-week-old wonder. :-)

Gee, you have been gone a while - we no longer have "winter" in the sense of a season with Midwestern cold and snow in Iowa. Haven't for the last three or four years; I'm told it's a result of global warming giving warm winds from the Pacific an extra push so they can get over the Rockies and shunt the winds that used to come down from Candada out East.
Awfully cute kid. Does she have any hobbies yet?
