Wooo-oo-oo-oo, for the longest time...

It's been awhile since I went blog-AWOL like this. Sorry if I've bored you. I'm back now, at least for the moment, to bore you some more. Here are some bits and pieces:

  • Mom got married. The ceremony was very simple and nice, and it appeared to "work." New Husband With Weird Name is growing on me, and clearly tries very hard.
  • It was fun to hang out with my (very tall) younger cousins. Photos to come.
  • I got to see Joannie again! Hooray for good friends who have been good friends forever, and who always have time to help you process. :-)
  • The board meeting came and went with very much ado in the form of waves of panic and freaking out when I found out that I would be left alone with our heaviest-ever summer programming.
  • I hit the breaking point where unemployment becomes the lesser of the two evils, and finally gave myself permission to quit (if necessary).
  • This gave me much leverage in the ensuing negotiations, because I honestly had nothing left to lose. I was a hardass. And they are giving me what I need - help, in the form of good solid volunteers. They also offered quite a bit of appreciation, which surprised me. So I didn't quit, because I can live with the new arrangement. However, I said absolutely not, fuckers! when they asked me (yet again) to extend my contract by a few more months. I will allow them to fly me in for the important conference in November, since really no one else can run it at this point.
  • Now I am completely exhausted and going back home (Twin Cities-home).
  • I got to see Abba again! Yay!
  • Venti decaf soy iced caramel macchiato (which means "stained" and refers to the lovely, colorful presentation)!
  • I (and several of my friends, eerily enough) have a somewhat blind first date this week. Details to follow.

Yes do share about the date! As a former single mom recently off the market, I still love a good dating story!

So much going on with you! I've been thinking about you and wondering how the wedding went. I'm glad to hear that you are *okay* with it. I wish I could have seen you this time around, but you are on the last leg now and it won't be long before you are *home* for good. :) Hang in there! And way to tell 'em what you need!
Amy :)
