OK, friends, time for a meme.
Four jobs I’ve had (I’ll pick a representative smattering):
- Subway sandwich artist
- High wilderness backpacking guide
- Church Relations Coordinator, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver
- Student government representative at our international theological house in Munich.
Four Movies I can watch over and over:
- When Harry Met Sally
- The Sound of Music (which 99% of Germans and Austrians have never heard of, nor can they sing along when your group spontaneously bursts into choruses of “Edelweiss”, so please, spare us)
- Amelie
- Down With Love (Ewan McGregor... *swoons*)
Four Places I’ve Lived:
- White Bear Lake, MN, population 25,000, for all of my sentient life through the end of high school. About half of my high school friends stayed or returned. At the time of our 10th high school reunion last summer, I was one of two living outside the country (Mary Ann D. was in Bermuda), and one of few living outside the STATE.
- Waverly, Iowa, population 9,000. I left campus maaaaaybe once a week and never really noticed that fact. College is weird. :-)
- Helen Keller School for Blind Children, Beit Hanina, Palestine (this was during the second Intifada. There was a checkpoint about 200 m from our school. In the morning we would watch the news to see who it was we heard getting shot the previous night. The last four weeks of my stay, we were on evacuation alert, and the US gov’t was ready to ship us off to Cyprus at the slightest indication of war.)
- Engela Parish Institute, Ovamboland, Namibia (at the time, the Angolan rebel army happened to be hosting a lovely little civil war at the border, 5 km from my home. All Americans residing in that part of the country who had registered at the Embassy were evacuated. I hadn’t, and so I remained, blissfully unaware of the fact that 8 hours south, my hosts were worried sick about me. They still think I stayed out of some twisted sense of courage and honor. But truly, I was just clueless. What is it with me and evacuations?)
Four TV shows I love:
- Scrubs
- Arrested Development
- Berlin, Berlin!
- Friends
Four places I’ve vacationed:
- Disneyworld (not terribly impressed, but I did love the People Mover)
- Istanbul (awesome, I’d totally go back)
- Solo backpacking trip: Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona (ditto on all three)
- Mallorca
Four of my favorite dishes:
- Tiramisu
- Guacamole and chips
- Tandoori chicken
- Nürnburger bratwursts, Sauerkraut and Roggenmischbrot (hey, it grows on you after a while)
Four sites I visit daily:
- Dooce
- Breed ‘em and weep
- Plash
- Mrs. Kennedy's great links
Four places I would rather be right now:
- Anywhere
- Anywhere
- Anywhere
- Anywhere

Ok, I've always wanted to ask this question of a sandwich artist:
Why did they go from cutting the triangle out of the top of the bread to cutting it horizontally like every other place?
I kinda liked the triangle.
C'mon Jess, we want answers...I too liked the triangle. It worked much better for things like meatballs!
:)
Don't look at me, girls. I loved The Triangle! I mourn its demise!
I thought The Triangle was very practical, as it didn't let the ingredients drip out the sides. However, it did annoy me when my co-Artists cut The Triangle too thin or not deep enough. Then you just had a floppy piece of white squishy stuff that sopped up all the oil and vinegar and disintegrated. That was no good, let me tell you.
If I owned Subway... well, The Triangle would definitely be reinstated.
