So... we're "hiring" (in the loose sense of the word) for this summer. I badly need an assistant, since the process of hiring my successor... um... didn't go as planned on the part of my higher-ups.
This is serious. Anyone want to spend the summer in Germany providing hospitality to interesting guests, working on office projects, doing some translating (if you can) and saving my life? Right now what we can offer is a nice furnished apartment, reasonable hours (for you anyway!) and the chance to work with meeeeeeeeeeeeee! But I am desperate enough and close enough to actually quitting that I think I can convince Those With Power to put some money where our mouth is, and spring for your plane ticket and maybe a bit of an allowance, so you can at least afford to pay your rent back home. Any takers? (Bridget? Feel like staying the whole summer? :-)
The application process is a little unwieldy but I will help you through it, and like I said, I currently have a bit of leverage. If you are even the slightest bit interested, let me know.

AGGHHHHHH!! That is the PERFECT job for me. Unfortunately I have boyfriend here in the US, as well as a year-long committment to a Presbyterian missions ministry in Spokane. DAMNIT!!!
Will there be all-expenses-paid field trips to the Star Club in Hamburg?
Stephanie, Meckhead... *I* wish you could come, too!
Are you applying, Charlie? We can get you to Beatles Central if that's what's required. :-) But you have to go be a murse. :-(
Oh man... it sounds great, but I've somehow managed to book up my summer already with attending weddings and professional development seminars. (three month 'vacation'? ha!) I would much rather be in Germany, though!
By the way, I'm thinking of extending my stay for a week or so... wanna take a few days off and travel somewhere? Is there anywhere you want to go? =)
SEVEN REASONS TO WORK WITH JESS THIS SUMMER (AND LIVE NEAR HER IN A GREAT FURNISHED APARTMENT)
(1) Jess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(2) the best chocolate and pesto you will ever have tasted
(3) doener (mmmm!) -- an indescribable Turkish food that isn't available in the U.S. thanks to the Health Department's picky laws about meat rotating on sticks all day
(4) Beiram/Bisram/Alex (the cute Turkish guy with three names who sells doener down the street from Jess' house and is very kissable)
(5) Martin Luther's house, including the newly discovered toilet which Luther actually used!!! And the door on the castle church where he posted the 95 theses which launched the Reformation (well, not the actual door, but a newer door in the same spot)!!!
(6) Erfurt
(7) JESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So--go hang out with Jess this summer! I did it last summer, and it was absolutely great!
