Yes, that's right: Heto and Ricegirl, rockers of my face. Wow. They are heavy into the rocking, and I am officially faceless. Girls, I'm your b*tch.
Because... They sent me the MOST AWESOMEST care package ever, full of treats and stateside delights and some big servings of luuuuuv. It is really quite the well-balanced package: one of these for a snack (loving the artificial sponge-cakey goodness, ladies!), a DVD ("Trouble in Paradise"... heh, funny. Paradise), some art projects for when I'm bored (Play-Doh, a puzzle book, crayons and a Giant Bible Coloring book) and an antidote to those February-14th-blues: the "Big Valentine's Pinball of Love!" Could it be any hokier? I don't think so! And the absolute kicker is a one-a-day calendar that they devised all by themselves on a biiiiig stack of rainbow post-it notes, with daily commentaries ranging from the inspirational to the sarcastic to the fully deranged. It could only have come from the minds of these two inspirational, sarcastic and fully deranged individuals. You try coming up with 365 brilliant witticisms. It can't be easy. :-)
They channeled my favorite movies and TV shows, made liberal references to inside jokes (remember that time when I used to have friends here? We also had inside jokes!), and went nuts on all things Harry Potter. They also, inexplicably, mentioned cheese a lot.
A few examples are certainly in order:
-8 Jan: "You want to find your dream man... take a nap."
-17 May: Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! (Call collect; international calls are expensive!)"
-12 Sept: "What do you call cheese that doesn't belong to you? Nacho cheese!"
-19 July: "*jazz*hands*!*"
-30 July: "Expecto patronum!"
- And my personal favorite: a giant birthday cake on May 16th. Awww.. shucks.
Girls, you... just... wow.

*jazz hands some more*
Yeah, we are good with the faces and the rocking off of them... hmm. That sounds dirty. We knew you could use a lil pick me up to get rid of those WB-sucks-out-my-soul blues.
And I think the cheese had to do with the fact that we did watch a lot of the food network while we were writing the calendar. Sorry 'bout that.
We miss you!!
What wonderful caring and creative friends!
I sent a similar package to an old pen pal of mine from Australia years ago. She had sent me an article about a US inspired grocery that carried items like Oreos, Pringles, etc. So I went out and got all the things in the article so she could try them. Do they have similar stores near you?
Zen
This sounds like the greatest care package EVER.
365??? I'm impressed.
Heto... I very much enjoy the cheese-y quotes. Really :-)
Zen...they have those things in a big fantasyland to the north. It's called "Berlin"! And I'm going there tomorrow, mostly for work, but really, you can't help but have fun on the side. And I shall be stocking up on the necessities.
Arabella... yeah, they pretty much rock. I am lucky to have such awesome friends. :-)
