mixed bag

So I'm on this dating website (why do I feel like I ought to be slightly embarrassed about that? It's not weird anymore, people!), which I chose because it's totally free and I love a bargain. Plus, when I'm paying for a website like that, it doesn't motivate me to "work harder" to find someone; it just makes me feel bad about wasting money when my attention span for the whole project inevitably wanes.

One of the fun things you get to do on this site is take a bunch of random tests, most of which are designed by other users. They are a mixed bag. Once you filter out the ones that only ask you about your sexual preferences, though, you get some fun ones that might shed a little light on your personality, or at least on the eclectic hobbies you have.

My test results should surprise no one:
- I'm an ENFP (gasp!)
- I'm a 7 (The Adventurer)
- I'm fairly well-versed in trivia related to TV shows I adore
- I'm a strong democrat/socialist (no kidding?)
- My multiple intelligences include interpersonal, intrapersonal and linguistic
- I'm good with spelling and thingz
- The best thing about me is compassion (the best? really?)
- I score as 'normal human' on the Voight-Kampff (whew! I was sweating that one)

The newest test I took is supposed to tell you your dating persona. I was prepared for it to be wrong and/or totally outlandish. However, here is what it told me (the cut-and-paste thing didn't work, so it's just text):

So... I like to think I have a bit of common sense about me, and I don't think I'm quite as introspective or hopelessly romantic as the test would have you think, but... do you see that sentence up there? The one about absolutely refusing to date someone dumber than me? Totally guilty as charged. In fact, I just said that very thing out loud to a friend tonight. And I am not sure how to say this without sounding like a total prick, but... that narrows the field a bit. Add in there a few other criteria like "single, age-appropriate, kind, into girls, into me" and you have... great big haystack, little tiny needle.

Some people get out the magnifying glass and start sifting. I think my style is more like jumping barefoot into the pile and hoping to step on something sharp.
