Pros and Cons

+ I have a job interview on August 1st! They are "really excited about you, Jessica", and as far as I know, I am currently the only serious candidate.
- I had to buy a suit for the interview. It cost more than I have ever spent for any other item of clothing, ever, unless you count my rollerblades. Wait no, they were less.
+ Now I have a suit!
- It's black and lined and even the thought of putting it on makes rivulets of sweat course down my temples. It's about 95 degrees out right now. At 7:17 pm. I'm melting.
+ For the interview, they are flying me to Chicago. I have friends in Chicago! Maybe I can see them.
- I can't think of a worse time to have to leave the office for a week. There is SO MUCH WORK TO DO.
+ The new directors come on August 7th! This is marvelous news, because it means that I am not captaining this ship alone anymore.
- However, it means that until then, I get to work my butt off preparaing the training sessions in addition to the rest of the "normal" stuff.
+ Which means that on Friday and Saturday nights, when there are open-air concerts in the courtyard that my office window overlooks... I get a free seat! Tonight it's the Berlin Symphony.
- I am sitting here translating yet another earthshatteringly boring article about a reformer for whom I am quite sure I used to have some enthusiasm. It has to be done, because the group has to hear a lecture and the original guy canceled at the last minute and Replacement Guy will give the presentation in English, but only if someone translates it for him. That someone is me.
+ Only one page left now!
- Single spaced, with tiny margins.

Your last line made me laugh. :) I hope that it's all behind you now and you're relaxing! I also hope you get to see Joanne while you're in Chicago.

She was the only one who showed up this weekend...and only stayed for 12 hours. :( I never was able to get a hold of her to tell her about the reschedule. The "pro" was that I got a little bit of cherished one-on-one time with her. :) As always, we missed you! Can't wait to see you again more often!

Honestly, I love suits. They're classic, foolproof, and they always make me feel good. I have two really nice ones for which I spent a small fortune, and they were truly a great investment. In the summer, you can also wear a nice airy camisole with them, and then remove the jacket whenever you're not in an environment in which you need to be formal. Good luck!
