Let them Eat Cake

I have been working a lot lately. A rather insane amount, to be more precise. I have this new ability to get so wrapped up in what I’m doing that the time seems to disappear and all of the sudden the sun is setting and I’ve turned on the light and the dusk mosquitoes are coming through the open window. And then I go home and sleep and start all over again. On Friday I realized at about 7:30 pm that I hadn’t eaten anything but cake all day. I found that kind of amusing.

At 10 am, we celebrated the last day of a two-week practicum of a very talented young high school student who made it a whole lot easier for our secretary to come back from her three-week vacation. The intern brought this lovely homemade cheesecake.

At noon there was a rather spontaneous meeting of a bunch of Wittenberg’s movers and shakers at our office - and by that I mean not the ones with big names and lots of influence, but rather the ones who shake the foundations by doing their thing and doing it well. There’s no club I’d rather belong to. Silvio, bless his heart, brought cake.

And at 4:00, our group of college faculty dropped by for a reception, with an introduction to the ministry of the Center (by yours truly), coffee and - you guessed it – cake.

So I went through the weekend with a sugar high.
