kitty of the day

File this one under: the great things that happen when you live in community. A couple weeks ago, each of our two cats spent a day with their visages being touted on our chalkboard under the title "kitty of the day." And then this crazy fun thing happened: suddenly every day had its own kitty! Meowgaret Scratcher made an appearance, as did Chairman Mew, Charles Mewkowski (a wild-west kitty) and Mew-amar Kat-afi (complete with fez), to name a few. And the coolest thing about the phenomenon is that each kitty had a different creator. Everyone's getting in on the game.

Man do I love porches. Our porch saw a rapid increase in usage when this new batch of housemates moved in, of whom around half are smokers. At our house cigarettes are banned to the porch, so with this influx of occasional porchdwellers, the atmosphere out there changed a lot (by which I'm not so much referring to the tar and nicotine). :-) One of our nasty old loveseats got new life when it was relegated to the porch, and it's now out there adding to the generalized coziness of the place.

In other news, I've got some sort of excellent virus. Really the only symptom so far is this weird fever that cycles around, hovering first near 100 and then up to 102 or 103, and then back down to low-grade again. It makes me kinda dizzy-- sometimes if I try to get up, I fall over. It's rather comical, actually. Except that I had to cancel something I was looking forward to, due to my newfound inability to walk a straight line, so that was kind of a bummer. It's rescheduleable, though, so no harm done.
